LET'S TALK ABOUT HOLISTIC NUTRITION & OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW! (This is just a little bit of everything. I would need to write a book to fit it all in)
***DRY FOOD, COOKED, & PROCESSED FOODS ARE COMPLETELY UNHEALTHY FOR ANIMALS***
Dry pet food in a bag is new and only has been around for about 100 years. Before that what did pets eat? They ate an organic, biologically appropriate, BALANCED *RAW* diet. Dogs would hunt things like deer and rabbits, while cats would hunt things like mice. They would kill it and eat right there off the "dirty" ground. So, their digestive systems are designed to take care of harmful bacteria's like Salmonella.
(Note: I was afraid of RAW at the beginning but now that I see my fur babies thriving I can't ever go back to what I was feeding before)
Now, what I have personally learned on this journey? I learned more then you could've imagine and I'll share some of the things below. My goal is to help you prevent these things from happening to your pet. So, you can enjoy them for a long long time. Happy, Healthy, and Longevity, that's what I want for you and your pet.
1.) We all know Vet Bills are super expensive. Some common health conditions in pets are kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, urinary track problem, and more. By simply just feeding them a biologically appropriate diet; we could drastically reduce their disease markers (chances for getting disease) by leaps and bounds. If your pets aren't getting sick that means you're not paying vet bills. It's a WIN WIN. Your pet is healthy and you don't have vet bills. If you want to learn more, I can send you some videos of scientists and a world renown holistic vet/speaker that can show you the knowledge. Just send me a message.
2.) Healthy food can be expensive but here's a few things I have to say about that.
I have seven pets and if I fed them the best I would go broke. If I only had 1 or 2 fur babies then that would be different. However, A wise holistic vet said "" even if you can only afford 1 healthy meal a week, your pet is getting that much more healthy vitamins and minerals then before. Then that 1 meal a week (multiplied by) 52 weeks a year, (times) your pets lifetime, you're giving that much more life back to your pet; then never giving that one healthy meal).
I don't pressure my clients that they have to buy & feed the best food, that it's all or nothing because that's not true. If you are able to feed the best all the time then that's great. But, if you can only do a meal or 2 of a biologically appropriate diet a week; then just know that you are still making a difference in your pets' life. So, during my consultations I do go over budgets with my clients and try to give your pet the best we can within the budget you have.
Also, remember dry food is NO GOOD. However, if you do have to incorporate dry food because of your budget. Then there is only 1 Dog food brand and only 3 flavors that I recommend. There is only a few ingredients in it and doesn't have any of the common allergens that may effect them. Plus, we can do a few things to help make the quality of the dry food a little better. However, your pet won't thrive completely unless there on a species appropriate diet 100% of the time.
NOTE ABOUT DRY FOOD: THEY ARE FULL OF CARBS, STARCHES, FILLERS, AND MORE. ALSO, DRY FOOD IS COOKED AT SUCH HIGH TEMPERATURES THAT IT CREATES CARCINOGENS WHICH IS CANCER CAUSING. EVEN IF YOUR DOG LOOKS PERFECTLY FINE HE/SHE MAY NOT BE FINE. I SAW X-RAY OF DOGS THAT LOOK FINE BUT ON THOSE FANCY X-RAY MACHINES IN COLOR. WILL SHOW INFLAMMATION IN RED. OVER TIME THAT INFLAMMATION WILL DO SOME DAMMAGE. LIKE MY DOG. PERFECTLY FINE BUT ONE DAY HER FUR STARTED TO FALL OUT. BY THIS TIME IT'S TOO LATE.
Now, here is my story on food & vet bills being expensive ( You might pay a little extra in food cost now but you save money over the life of your pet.)
My German Shepherd is currently is 7 years old. The first part of her life I fed her kibble like most other people. Over time she started to loose her fur, her skin looked grey like an elephant because of infection, then she developed a thyroid problem, and then a pancreas problem. Now, with the pancreas problem she has malabsorption, meaning she is "skin and bones" and the nutrients is not being absorbed in her body. I took her to a regular vet and they found a thyroid problem, got her on meds. Something still wasn't right to me. So, I found a holistic vet and they have quite the tools in their tool box. We started doing natural remedies and I started a ORGANIC, RAW, BALANCE, BIOLOGICALLY APPROPRIATE DIET with my knowledge from school. Now, after a while of doing this she started to completely turn around for the good.
What have I learned this far? I'll tell you. Feed Healthy from the start!! I learned that now, not only am I spending extra money on the proper food (which I should of done from the beginning). But I'm SPENDING AND "ADDITIONAL" $300 dollars on supplements every month for the rest of her life. So, if I would have spent the extra money on food to begin with, I could've saved $300 a month Also, my pup wouldn't be going to all these vet appointments. All these vet appointments are additional stress on the animals. Stress causes inflammation and inflammation can lead to all kind of health problems too. She is still going to vet appointments and blood work appointments on a frequent basis which all costs money as well.
What really got me, was taking my holistic nutrition class. As I was reading about certain diseases and how it starts. I all most cried. There is a deficiency that had the exact order of complications that happened to my pup. Of course, it all came back to proper nutrition. If I would've fed proper nutrition from the start this may never have happened or if it did it wouldn't have been as bad.
The more involve I become with nutrition the more amazing things I see can be prevented. It's something so easy to change but sometimes just pouring that kibble seems so much easier and more convenient. Then when something happens it's either to late or a super long healing process. So, just prevent it from the beginning. If you're not sure about something then ask questions, knowledge is power. I'm here to help you not make the same mistakes as me. Note: Raw diets don't mean just give your pet a piece of raw meat. If you do NOT feed a proper BALANCED DIET, they can get deficiencies. However, during the "PERSONAL/CUSTOM" consultations we go over everything in depth.
Note: Dry food lacks moisture which is a crucial part of a pets' diet. If you think that you bowl of water is enough for them your wrong. Out in the wild when they kill pray the flesh is water so they are getting the proper water to protein ratio. This means that animals are less likely to have urinary & kidney problem then if you were feeding them a dry kibble.
I had a cat with kidney disease that passed away. When he was alive I didn't know any better; I had him on kibble and the vet told me that lack of moisture in a diet can cause kidney problems. That the moisture helps flush out toxins in the body. When you don't have the moisture the toxins stay present and causes problems. So, they immediately put me on a canned food diet.
